Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using this website.
Last updated: July 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
This website is operated by Unity Legal and Notary Services ("the Firm", "we", "us"). By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use this website.
2. Information, not legal advice
The content of this website — including pages, articles, newsletters, and FAQs — is provided for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Legal outcomes depend on the specific facts of each situation, and laws and procedures change. You should not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of anything on this website without obtaining advice from a licensed legal professional about your specific circumstances.
3. No paralegal–client relationship
Using this website, reading its content, submitting a contact form, subscribing to the newsletter, or sending us an email does not create a paralegal–client relationship. A paralegal–client relationship is established only after a consultation, completion of a conflict check, and a signed written retainer agreement with the Firm.
4. Confidential information
Please do not send us confidential or time-sensitive information through this website until a retainer has been established. Information sent before a paralegal–client relationship exists may not be treated as confidential and does not prevent us from acting for another party in the same or a related matter.
5. Licensing and regulation
Legal services offered through this website are provided by Merve Ozdemir, a Licensed Paralegal and Notary Public, licensed by the Law Society of Ontario and providing services within the permitted paralegal scope of practice in Ontario. Information about the regulation of paralegals is available from the Law Society of Ontario at lso.ca.
6. Fees and retainers
Any fee information displayed on this website is general in nature and subject to confirmation in writing. All fee arrangements — hourly, flat fee, or contingency — are confirmed in a written retainer agreement before work begins. Under contingency arrangements, clients remain responsible for disbursements, and the fee percentage plus HST is agreed in writing in advance.
7. Deadlines and limitation periods
Legal claims are subject to strict deadlines, including limitation periods and tribunal filing deadlines. Reading this website or contacting the Firm does not stop any deadline from running. If you believe you have a legal claim, seek advice promptly.
8. Newsletter and communications
By subscribing to our newsletter you consent to receiving email updates from the Firm in accordance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you may withdraw consent at any time. We do not sell or share subscriber information with third parties.
9. Privacy and cookies
We collect only the personal information you choose to provide (for example, through the contact form or newsletter signup) and use it solely to respond to your inquiry or deliver the newsletter. This website may use analytics cookies to understand site traffic; analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
10. Intellectual property
All content on this website — text, articles, graphics, logos, and design — is the property of Unity Legal and Notary Services unless otherwise noted, and is protected by Canadian copyright law. You may view and share links to this content for personal, non-commercial use. Reproduction or republication without written permission is prohibited.
11. Links to other websites
This website may contain links to third-party websites, including government and tribunal resources. These links are provided for convenience only. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of external sites.
12. Limitation of liability
While we make reasonable efforts to keep the content of this website accurate and current, it is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Firm is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or its content.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. Any dispute relating to this website is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
